The City of Cleveland is home to eight professional sports teams.

All teams play (or will play) their home games in Downtown Cleveland. Three teams are new and are currently being developed with their first games set for 2027 or 2028. These teams and the venue for their home games are:

  • Cleveland Guardians [Cleveland Indians] (Baseball / American League / MLB) Home field: Progressive Field, 2401 Ontario St., Downtown

  • Cleveland Browns (American Football / NFL) Home field: Huntington Bank Field, 100 Alfred Lerner Way, Downtown

  • Cleveland Cavaliers (Basketball / NBA) Home court: Rocket Arena (formerly, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse), 1 Center Court, Downtown

  • Cleveland Sirens (WNBA) - Cleveland’s new women’s basketball team to begin games in 2028. Home court: Rocket Arena (formerly, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse), 1 Center Court, Downtown. More info.

  • Cleveland Charge (Basketball Minor League / NBA-G) Home court: Public Hall (inside Public Auditorium), 500 Lakeside Ave, Downtown

  • Cleveland Monsters (Hockey / AHL) Home rink: Rocket Arena (formerly, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse), 1 Center Court, Downtown

  • Cleveland Astra - the city’s first women's professional soccer team (WPSL Pro league) to begin games in Spring 2028. Games are planned to be played at a new downtown Cleveland soccer stadium currently envisioned to be near the southwest corner of Carnegie and Ontario, diagonally across from Progressive Field.   • Forest City Cleveland - the city’s new men's soccer team ( MLS NEXT Pro) to begin games in Spring 2027. Games are planned to be played at a new downtown Cleveland soccer stadium currently envisioned to be near the southwest corner of Carnegie and Ontario, diagonally across from Progressive Field. Pre-professional Teams:

There are currently two pre-professional teams, both in soccer. Both teams play their home games in Downtown Cleveland.

  • Cleveland Force SC (Men) (Soccer / USL League Two) - Home field: Krenzler Field, 1850 Chester Ave at Cleveland State University.

  • Cleveland Force SC (Women) (Soccer / USL W League - Group B) - Home field: Krenzler Field, 1850 Chester Ave at Cleveland State University.

Major Annual / Recurring Events:

All teams play (or will play) their home games in Downtown Cleveland. Three teams are new and are currently being developed with their first games set for 2027 or 2028.

  • Tennis in the Land: Annual WTA 250 tennis tournament, every summer, Nautica Entertainment Complex, The Flats

  • Cleveland Marathon: 26.22 mile race and shorter races, spring of each year, Downtown, starting and ending in Downtown.

  • AMA Supercross Championship: Dirt-bike racing, Huntington Bank Field, Downtown

Major National / International Sporting Events:

The City of Cleveland hosts many national and international sporting events, including a recent FIFA 2026 World Cup friendly between Brazil and Egypt. Some upcoming events:

  • 2026 USA Boxing National Open, September 26 to October 3, 2026 at Public Auditorium, 500 Lakeside Ave, Downtown

  • 2026 Nike FreezeFest, October 24-25, 2026 at Huntington Convention Center, 300 Lakeside Ave., Downtown

  • 2026 USATF Club Cross Country & National Championships, December 12, 2026 at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, OH (approximately 45 minutes south of Downtown Cleveland)

  • 2027 AHL All-Star Classic - AHL All-Star Skills Competition on February 7, 2027 and the AHL All-Star Challenge on February 8, 2027, Rocket Arena, 1 Center Court, Downtown

  • 2027 National Veterans Golden Age Games, June 23-30, 2027, Huntington Convention Center, 300 Lakeside Ave, Downtown

  • 2030 Special Olympics USA Games, September 26-October 3, 2030, Cleveland Public Auditorium, 500 Lakeside Ave., Downtown
