We are currently building it, with an expected data launch date of DEcember 31, 2025, after which it will be updated regularly and as new data sets are released.

As we work to improve and grow Cleveland, our research and efforts will be informed by data amongst other information. As we compile and/or gather various data sets, we will share them here for others’ use in their work. These data sets will focus on Population/Demographics, Economics, Investment, Health, Transportation, and other topics, as these sectors provide performance indicators on how the city is doing and relative to other communities. Additionally, if you are seeking specific data on Cleveland or the city’s standing relative to other markets and the information is not contained here, feel free to contact us to request such data.

Open Data for cities supports economic development and new technologies and solutions for cities and society at large. A core principle concept of open data is data in a format that can be easily ingested and used, such as a spreadsheet. We seek to provide data in such formats. However, at times, the data is sourced in another format, such as Adobe Acrobat (pdf), which, while enabling an easy-to-read format, may make data usage and integration more difficult.

On the 2024 Fortune 1000 List, Cleveland has 16 companies, which are the nine companies above as well as: TransDigm Group, Applied Industrial Technologies, Lincoln Electric Holdings, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Avient, MasterBrand, and Nordson.

Top 30 US Cities by GDP. Latest data is from 2023. City economies are metropolitan by nature as trade or shopping does not end or stop at a municipal line. The Metropolitan Cleveland economy is defined as Cleveland/Cuyahoga County and the outer six counties plus Ashtabula County, which the US Census Bureau has defined as part of the Cleveland MSA. Metropolitan Cleveland is comprised of the Cleveland and Akron MSAs.

Comparing June 2022 to Jan 2022, Cleveland employment increased 3.4%, while during the same period employment increased 4.4%, 2.9%, and 2.0% in New York City, Detroit, and Columbus OH, respectively.
